SONY BDV-E290 5.1 Home Theatre System

Hi A/V Lovers,

I can see that most reviews are talking about audio not being excellent and non-availability of equalizer and other audio settings. I think all these views are from those who have used high-end home theater or audio systems. But I think for an average user with a aveage room and moderate price, it could give a nice media experience. First of all as most reviews said, it can play most types of audio or video files through USB or CD/DVD/Blue-ray or through DLNA/streaming.

I do agree with the review of Nilesh Pinto who had only 2 day experience with the system. Eventhough I have experience over two months, not many things to write with he had said. The volume is low and I never expected from a great brand like Sony. So, they have to take back the system and refund the amount. Not a good product for hearing music as well. Those who want to see cinemas ,can use this. The Bass is good but the punch is not effective. I rate it as 3 out of 5

When i play mkv files no subtitles are displayed gyzz pls find a soln for this....Audio quality is very poor...

sony is best for making TV's but not for audio...
better go for onkyo, jbl or Yamaha.. they do lot of research just for sound and acoustics...
check jbl cinema bd 100.... which has also 3d bluray player included

Guys, Its rocking one. You can play almost all the files.
Always play high quality videos with DTS Surround effect.
When you are searching for movies search for 5.1 channel audio, as normal one will give negative picture about the system. I compared it with DAV 215, but you cannot play Blue Ray Disk, .MKV, .avi format in DVD drive and in USB with DAV 215 model.

Better to go for it. Its economical.

I received my system yday. My 2 day experience with the system is very dissappointing fro various reasons.

The volume does not start before hitting 10 on a scale of 0-33. My Sony TV HX750 for many modes plays louder music than the E290.
you do not get the 1000W punch you imagined. My older Hifi Aiwa System had more punch than this.
The radio absolutely does not work. I think i may need to keep the system out of the window to receive FM signals.
No Equalisers. I guess your personal preferenc...

I bought this system eagerly because of the Brand name of SONY. But the product is not up to my expectation eventhough there are many advantage of this system.First of all, it plays almost all media whether it is an MKV,Xvid AVCHD or others and the picture quality is very brilliant and sharp.But the audio performance is very far from my expectation.Audio is brilliant only in Blueray disk and other DVD's , it is not good.
