The extremely capable and fully loaded HDR-CX260VE from Sony’s highly successful HDR series of high definition camcorders, gives you the opportunity to capture and relive all those precious memories in high definition. With a very user-friendly and sleek body design, this sophisticated camcorder sports an advanced Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor; this camcorder has an effective still image resolution of 8.9 megapixels.

The combining of the Exmor R CMOS sensor and a powerful BIONZ image processor, this camcorder has the ability to record stunning full high definition videos at 1080p resolution and also capture high quality images with a maximum resolution of 3984 x 2240 pixels. The high quality images are captured and saved in the JPEG file format while the videos are saved in the MPEG2-PS format for standard definition and in the MPEG4-AVC/H.264 AVCHD format while recording in high definition.

The video recording mode also records the corresponding audio through the camcorder’s built-in zoom microphone and is saved in 2 channel Dolby Digital Stereo file format. All the operations on this Sony camcorder are achieved through a very efficient NP-FV50 rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

The presence of Face Detection on this camcorder recognizes faces within the frame and optimizes exposure and focus settings specifically for them. Another very sophisticated and extremely useful new feature is the GPS automatic geotagging which automatically matches date and time information from photos with location information with the help of an inbuilt GPS unit.

The addition of a self-timer function on this camcorder lets you delay shutter release by 10 seconds, giving you enough time to compose a frame and also be part of the photograph. It is also a great tool for capturing self-portraits and for those perfect group shots.

The transfer of all the recorded media files can be done to a computer or a laptop via the camcorder’s Type A USB, mini-AB USB or Hi-speed USB 2.0 port.
