Description

Spoken English (With CD) is a helpful guide to speaking fluent English in both formal and informal conversations.

Summary Of The Book

A comprehensive self-study guide, Spoken English (With CD) is meant for readers looking to improve their spoken English skills, which are required for the internationally recognized language for communication and business. With emphasis on basic grammar and sentence construction, the book also provides a simple guide for informal and formal conversations, with helpful knowledge on greetings, introductions, and showing appreciation.

Spoken English (With CD) features a total of twenty nine chapters on real-life situations and the conversations involved in them, in addition to information on the TOEFL, various call centers, and higher education options. Each chapter culminates in a set of exercises meant to improve the reader’s English skills, and provides an array of topics to practise skit-writing on. Numerous helpful clues and tips are also supplied for the same. This guide also stresses on the differences between the American and British spellings, and the most common words used in computers. After each conversation, a word-study section is provided that focuses on the vocabulary pertinent to the conversation.

The chapter list includes real-life scenarios like visiting a doctor with one's parent, booking accommodation at a hotel when you are out of station, and attending an interview, to name a few. A CD-Rom accompanies this text, and is a useful tool in learning and mastering the complex language of English. It houses all the conversations mentioned in the book in a simple audio format. The appendix at the end of the book hosts a wide array of words to build one’s vocabulary as well.

Good book

I read Wren & Martin's Eng Grammar book and this book written by Ms. Jayashree Balan, along with many other books. I can say that this book by Ms. Balan is next to Wren&Martin's book.
I got cleared all my queries related to English Grammar.
Can be recommended for students in classes for 7th through 10th in schools.
Conversations given are very simple, clear, and perfect.
Only missing is phonetics' section. I hope Ms. Balan will compose another book which includes this section in detail.

Not for beginners!

first of all this book is not the right one if you are a beginner. moreover the speaker in the CD has a South Indian accent which might confuse you with the pronunciation of the words in English. at an Advanced level this book is recommended!

Good buy

i bought this book somethime back, and yes I would say this is pretty good, informative, rather than giving too much of detailed explanation on the grammer piece, it rather gives small sentences, which needs to be constructed in english. is a good buy
