The fifth instalment in the series is targeted towards people who like extreme sports. The snowboarding game brings in new gameplay elements that will keep you entertained for hours. Synopsis and Features
Extreme sports always find a way to pump up adrenaline, even if you are just a spectator. With SSX you get to live that excitement as you can snowboard across the biggest and most dangerous mountains known to man. SSX does not follow a rigid story, but it still has a tale to tell. Your teammate, Griff, has thrown you a challenge, saying he will ride the 9 deadly descents across the world and win it all. You have to accept this challenge and try to beat him by conquering the descents.
Developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports, SSX packs in many new features than were previously unavailable. The game’s single player campaign takes you to different locations across the world. Events in the game include the race event, trick events, Survive It and many more. There are many highlights in the newest SSX. The locations available on the game are expertly and accurately designed as they have been created using real-world NASA topographical data.
SSX features an advanced physics engine that allows you to perform tricks on almost any surface. From the Great Wall of China to the adrenaline-pumping drop at Mount Tasman in New Zealand, you can expect precision detail throughout the game. This allows you to experience what a real SSX rider feels when he slides down the dangerous mountains across the world.
The game promises high replay value as there are hidden tunnels and dangerous canyons to be found in almost every location. The excitement and thrills keep coming as the game features helicopter drops from the mountains of Kilimanjaro and killer avalanches that can wipe you out in seconds.
The game requires you to earn points. You can do it by executing dangerous tricks. Every risk taken in the game earns you a reward. You can learn new tricks as you progress; combine them together to get a combo and earn more points. The points earned unlock cool upgrades that you can add to your character. There are many characters to choose from. Each character has its own special tricks that can help you in winning a difficult event. These include Elise, Mac, Kaori, Psymon, Moby, Zoe, Griff, Ty, Tane and Alex.
The multiplayer option works very differently in the SSX. You compete against the players across the world, but not in real time. You ride a mountain and then post your high score. This is compared against the players across the world, and the best time is posted on the leader board. The multiplayer also includes the ghost option.
The ghost pops up in the game every time you challenge a friend’s or competitor’s score. This is an interesting option as you can see how your competitor rode down the mountain and try new tricks to beat his score. The gameplay modes include the Explore and Global Events. You can track your scores anytime as the game comes with an auto-tracking feature called RiderNet.
SSX features a great soundtrack that features many popular artists such as Foster the People, Run-D.M.C., Skrillex, Two Door Cinema Club, Flux Pavilion, The Hives and many more. You can download updates and demos from Xbox Marketplace.
