Everything till now is done using Scheme in the book, you dont need to have prior knowledge of it to read it.
If you want to implement the code snippets, you will need the mit-scheme gnu compiler but unfortunately it does not work on windows. There are many online IDEs that you can use though.

SICP is a classic CS text
SICP teaches its readers to decompose programs into independent procedures, separate out the data representation from its usage, thereby adding a layer of abstraction there and write computer programs in a modularized fashion. The exercises are challenging and aid users in understanding the material. And scheme is a simple but elegant language to work through this book.
