I was contemplating buying an all-purpose super zoom, which I can carry during travel, for quite some time now (well nearly a couple of months). Before zeroing in on this lens, I researched a bit about what all-purpose travel lens ...

One thing you should always consider before buying this lens, this is a pretty good lens, but not a great lens.

It will not disappoint you in your day to day photography, but it produce softer images when compare to Nikon 18-105 or Nikon 55-300 (that's a problem with all super zooms)

So again, you will get good images but not award wining great images (unless you are doing such photography where sharpness does not matter much)

I got this lens locally and not from flipkart at a much lower price.

This is a great lens that does pretty mush everything that you want from a lens to an acceptable level

-- The 15 times zoom gives you an amazing reach and is great for shooting someone near and far

Instead of carrying multiple lens of various focal length, this one serves all purpose.
However, the aperture can't be as good as a prime lens. Little bit heavy but good to use. Image quality will be good based on your usage and technique. Photos won't come quite sharp at low light and won't be very clear at 100% zoom while viewing the photo in your laptop or desktop. Zoom is quite good and it's very useful while you are traveling and willing to take photos of various subjects.

After using around 1.5 years I am writing this review.

Its a best camera lens within this price and picture quality is great. All the images I clicked from this lens was really appreciated and you get a precision to use this lens for multiple usage like close shots and zoom lens. Only thing is you have to compromise liitle for quality if you zoom.more than 230 mm.

I got this couple of months back on EMI. This was a deal.
Pros
1. Very compact.
2. Light weight
3. Pretty stable at 250 mm also

Cons
1. Lens creep
2. Vigentting
3. The hood that comes along with the kit is not great.

I'll recommend the lens to those who want to experiment with a zoom lens and do not have 50000 to spend. At the price that you get this, it serves the purpose.

For the price that i bought it, definitely there's no lens that can compete. Overall, the comparison is with Nikon 18-300 as a benchmark. Quite happy with the product.

I had a combination of 18-55 and 55-200 mm lenses, but i used to have hell of time specially on treks and hikes when it came to changing the lens. But Tamron 18-270 mm put ended all my anxieties. This is a fantastic travel lens. I no longer have to fidget about, instead now simply concentrate on taking those spur of the moment snaps. But at the extreme zoom end I found the pictures getting real soft and loose a bit of precision but I can easily live with that. Very satisfied and have already ...

A good all in one lens with great bokehs and background blurring at telephoto end but slow autofocus and not so sharp pictures. But cant ask more at this price.
