This lens is performs excellently as per my expectation. Images are pretty sharp and fits perfectly into my kind of photography - nature, sunsets, architectures.

I bought Tamron (I call it Tammy) 17-50 as substitute lens of 18-55 lens which came boxed with my Canon 550D.

I purchased this lens from Flipkart and the shipping time and packaging was excellent.

This lens is very sharp and focuses quite well in AF. It is somewhat heavy and seems solidly built.

AF hunts a little bit in low light, but I suppose that's common to quite a few lenses. Also, there's some lens flare when shooting into the sun, but not too much and I don't mind it so much.

All in all, I'm happy with the lens and use it as my primary lens on my EOS 30D.

Excellent lens! Used it in a family get together, a bird sanctuary and on a trek. Got great results everywhere. Indoor photos in tight spaces were otherwise not possible. Got great indoor photos in low light situations. Very affordable all-in-one lens, which can easily replace kit lens..

Very sharp lens and excellent depth.
Totally a value for money lens compared to the Canon 17 40 F4 which is more than twice its price.
The non VC version is infact more sharper than the new VC version.

The only con's I would say are a noisy and little slow AF(which matters little in lanscapes). also the zooming could have been smoother. None else, this lens totally worthy

1 Bit soft at F/2.8 compared to similar Nikon/Canon offerings
2 Slow to focus due to the micro motor. Slow to focus in tracking mode.

Good lens. Doesn't have image stabilization. So you need to watch out for camera shake when hand held.

Very good product. Bought this as i hadn't ordered the kit lens that came along with the camera. So far so good !!!
