Fantastic Book !!

In one word the book is just "fantastic". I am an avid reader of books of the fiction & fantasy genre' and to be true the book is an excellent piece of work. Hats off to the Author. Such a well knit book could only be a work of an excellent author and Krishnarjun Bhattacharya seems to be making his debut with a bang. Eagerly awaiting the next book of the trilogy.

India's answer to JRR Tolkien

Without much expectation, I had started reading the book. I was not sure if I would like it as my previous attempts to read some famed Indian writers' famous novels turned out to be utter disasters. But still I thought to give this book a try considering the author's education (for a change he is not IIT passout or drop out with absolutely no control over the language). He is graduate from NID and FTII, which gave me hope that he is associated with the reading writing culture and probably wou...

Awesome..captivating :)

Tantrics of Old is plain awesome..and that is all I can think of to describe the book in a line :) After a long time I have read a book that deals with a topic that's rarely touched upon in books these days..the Kolkata of the past and her dark secrets. It is a fiction yes, but the places are all so familiar that you will feel like you are actually present there living this journey with the protagonist . It is almost like a Harry Potter or a Lord of the Rings tale , only difference being that...

Captivating read

The first few pages had me hooked. And then it was just how fast i could finish reading it. Neat and well consized the book will thrill you at every page and keep you guessing. The climax is fantastic. And at the end it will keep you waiting for the 2nd part. The best part about this book is that it has a fresh feel to it. A new world of fantasy to explore. And that too in the heart of my very own city.

Tantrics of Old - A wonderful plunge into the world of fantasy and dystopian fiction!

Tantrics of Old has managed to do what few others have attempted before: to spin the glorious mysteries of India into the world of fantasy and dystopian fiction. The book has been a refreshing take on the fantasy genre and is a definite recommendation for anybody looking for a twist on usual elements.

It is a page-turner and kept me hooked from the first page. The descriptions are beautiful and vivid to enough to create the whole of Old Kolkatta for the reader. Krishnarjun's vision and thou...

A BIG Thumbs Up!

A breath of fresh air is how I will describe Tantrics of Old. More often than not, fantasy novels become inspired by the epics of old but not so in this case. The novel is by no means flawless yet the way Krishnarjun asserts his own voice and establishes his narrative is worthy of praise. He takes the city of Kolkata and completely changes it in a surprisingly zombieland-ish way. His exaggerated dark tones of the squalor and underbelly of the city and the addition of dark and sinister creatur...

finally a different work of fiction/fantasy by an indian author

Tantrics of Old is a completely new work of fiction/fantasy from an Indian author. Its nothing like we have been offered before, holds its own and does not flow in the trend of recent indian fantasies. it is dark, twisted and honestly a thoroughly thought through trilogy giving away just enough in the first book. leaving subtle but impactful hints here and there for the sequels. I love the use of Indian Mythical creature which do not follow the set of rules we all know already. the author has...

A good read indeed

It is a wonderful book. For anyone who is familiar with the city or has grown up in it, this is an enchanting experience. I never thought that such a book can be written based on the streets I regularly traverse. Kudos to the author to have adapted the city of Kolkata with its nuances into a premise for such a unique story.
Also it is a must read for anyone who is into reading 'fantasy'. We as readers often are biased about Indian authors when it comes to this genre. This is one book I person...
