This book doesn't need a review, professors swear by it. however, if you're not familiar, this is the fourth in Hobsbawm's works, and covers the period of the 20th century in the usually clear and lucid style. This edition i noticed has a lot of pictures which weren't really necessary as students like us would rather prefer thinner books than picture books. Eric Hobsbawm a renowned Marxist critic has done a commendable job by presenting a general overview of the 20th century.
Even though the facts he presents are true there is a strong leftist bias to it. A person who knows his history can easily spot the 'tilt' but a beginner may well be influenced.
