"In a strange train journey from Delhi to Patna, Jay meets Suraj Kumar, a young mechanical engineer from Bihar, who tried to survive in an under-developed state but did not make it. After losing his father, Suraj is aided by his relatives as he gets a private job in Delhi. There, he comes across people who believe and live age-old stereotypes about people from different states, especially Bihar. He is subjected to the ugly prejudice and pays a horrible price. The anti-Bihari sentiments make him prey to parasites that are eating away at the nation’s unity and integrity. He is assaulted and abused physically, verbally and mentally, and left alone at a time when his mother needed him the most. A fellow Bihari, Jay, helps Suraj reach home. He goes, leaving behind several unanswered questions in Jay’s mind about the hatred and about people forgetting ideas like unity and togetherness. This is Suraj’s story."
