    Description
The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky's crowning achievement, is a tale of patricide and family rivalry that embodies the moral and spiritual dissolution of an entire society (Russia in the 1870s). It created a national furor comparable only to the excitement stirred by the publication, in 1866, of Crime and Punishment. To Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov captured the quintessence of Russian character in all its exaltation, compassion, and profligacy. Significantly, the book was on Tolstoy's bedside table when he died. Readers in every language have since accepted Dostoevsky's own evaluation of this work and have gone further by proclaiming it one of the few great novels of all ages and countries.

One of the Three Greatest Works of Literature

One cannot praise this book enough, cannot sing enough paeans to the feeling of fulfilment one derived from it. One just cannot emphasize enough how outstanding a work this one is! For The Brothers Karamazov is a work whose powerful spiritual appeal made Pope Benedict XVI a Dostoyevsky-aficionado, and at the same time, The Brothers Karamazov is a work which the iconic atheist Sigmund Freud counted amongst the greatest three novels of the world-literature on the strength of acuity of character...

    Magnum Opus!

Magnum Opus, it verily is. Being Dostoevsky's final work, this serves as one of the grandest culminations in the history of literature.

Dostoevsky , through his characters, questions the existence of God, the 'freewill' of man.
Fyodor Karamazov, the father of the three Karamazov brothers, is a man that embodies avarice, lust, extravagance & pretension. He is a father who never loved his sons, kept them devoid of his paternal concern. Each of the 3 Karamazov brothers, represents one of the ...

    Speechless

The book begins with development of an interesting plot. Slowly and slowly the plot starts getting more and more complicated with more and more characters getting added. So many stories running together. So many mind boggling circumstances. The atheism of Ivan, the theism of Father Joshima and Alyosa, the vigor of Dimitri and buffoonery of Fyodor Palvovitch, the conspiracy, the grand inquisitor and what not. All running in your mind while you go through this magnanimous book. Page after pag...

    Greatest!

The greatest analysis of human morale and choices ever. Each brother of Karamazov family poses an argument, a facet of human understanding and religiosity. This book is way more important than any of scriptural material. Dyostoevsky and his spiritual at literary peak!
