India’s democracy has existed for six decades now, but there has been talk that the nation’s democracy is in crisis. In this book, the author attempts to remind us of the risk of bringing democracy to the largely illiterate and un-propertied India.
Summary of the Book
Many do not realize the trouble that the introduction of democracy brought about in a nation like India. In this book, the author has argued that politics has created opportunities for people to participate in the society that they live in. He has also noticed that persistent inequality has mistaken the state’s proper function and organization. However, he has also noted that this has modified the way democracy works and its effects. The essay is an exploration on inequality and the problem of accountability. It is an optimistic argument that provides you with an ideological imagination that shows us our dissatisfactions.
