Summary of the Book

Prone to his senile lapses and his stereotypical Jewish tendencies, Vladek reveals the cruel reality of Hitler’s regime. Art Spiegelman portrays Jews as mice, Poles as pigs and Nazis as cats. He reveals how his parents were split apart by the Holocaust and thrown into separate concentration camps. Vladek struggles to come into contact with his wife, going to great extents to send word to her that he is alive and well. The story of their escape and their journey to America is a classic example of the terror left behind by the Nazis. About Art Spiegelman

Itzhak Avraham ben Zeev, better known as Art Spiegelman, is an American cartoonist, editor and comics advocate. He has also worked on The Wild Party, Open Me, I'm A Dog, Jack Cole and Plastic Man, In the Shadow of No Towers and Breakdowns.

Spiegelman has won several awards for his work on Maus, including an Eisner Award, a Harvey Award and a Pulitzer Prize. Spiegelman has turned down several offers to adapt Maus for film or television.
