The Crucible (English, Paperback, Miller Arthur)
The Crucible is a fictionalized story about the Salem witch hunt.
Summary of the Book
This story draws a parallel between the Salem witch hunt of 1692 and the McCarthyism that gripped America in the 1950s. It is the story of how a small community of Salem has been stirred into madness by superstition, paranoia and malice. In the climax, there is a savage attack on the evils of mindless persecution. We also see the horrifying power of false accusations. This is a story about innocent men and women who are destroyed by rumours.
