The Eye of the World is the first part of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time fantasy fiction series.

    Summary of the Book

The Creator made the Wheel of Time and the Great Serpent in the moment of creation. He then bound the Dark One Shai’tan to keep him from touching the world. Eons ago, a group of Aes Sedai freed the Dark One and began an age of darkness and chaos. To save the world, one man led a team of a hundred male Aes Sedai to seal the Dark One’s prison. He succeeded, but the Dark One’s retaliation drove him and the rest of his comrades mad. The male half of the One Power, the omnipresent source of the Aes Sedai’s powers, was tainted. Maddened, the male Aes Sedai began killing everyone, and the female Aes Sedai began their assault against the men who were once their comrades, friends and lovers. The brave leader of the male Aes Sedai killed his very family with his own hands out of madness. For this dark deed, he is now remembered as Kinslayer. Before this, however, he had another name; one that drove men to flock to his banner in praise. Men flocked to him, and he ruled them. His name was Lews Therin Telamon, the Lord of the Morning, the Prince of the Dawn, the Dragon. Now, three thousand years after the Dragon’s death, the Dark One threatens the world once again. Prophecy proclaims that the Dragon will ride again on the winds of time. An Aes Sedai and her Warder journey to the Two Rivers, to find a young man who may be the key to saving the world again. However, the Dark One has eyes and ears everywhere, and he may still destroy everything with his touch.

    An Eye into Fantasy

I got in the series as a Brandon Sanderson fan, the author responsible of finishing the Wheel of Time series, so I decided to give this book a spin.

The book has a slow build up, but once things get rolling (which happens very early on), it reels you into the world. Jordan was a vivid imagination, the characters grow on you over time, and you'll remember them as long friends. The worldbuilding is very impressive, there's a lot of foreshadowing here, so I can't wait to read book two.

    It's a ...

    Does it even need introduction?

It's nearly impossible to convince people. Best advice will be to pick up this book and read it. Liked it? you have a lot of sequels to catch up to. Hated it? leave it be, let it become a relic. Personally though it is worth reading

    Does the job

The front cover art is good but the binding quality is not good. White lines will form on the back after you have completed the book once. I think the book will only last for about three complete readings.

Old Wine in a mass produced bottle!

Way too many fantasy enthusiasts praise the WOT series but Book 1 is disappointing; As I pushed myself to finish it's 800 pages I realized EOTW is old Wine in a mass produced bottle but unlike Wine, some Books do not age well with time
