  • Description

The Gamechangers is a fictional plot based on the second installment of the Indian Premier League. It unsparingly exposes shadowy details of the filth and fortune associated with this cricketing event.

    Summary of the book

The Indian Premier League is an annual Twenty20 cricket contest conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. It is the wealthiest cricket competition in the world.

The central theme of The Gamechangers is pretty simple. There is a 35-day cricket tournament titled Indian Bollywood League or IBL, which combines the glitz and glamour of Bollywood with the shortest version of the game. An anonymous blogger is constantly spewing venom about the sporting spectacle. Following this, a seasoned private eye has been assigned with the task of unveiling the culprit.

In a very hard-hitting fashion, coupled with funny insinuations and juicy depiction, The Gamechangers brings to light all the behind-the-scenes grime. It plays the role of an eye-opener for readers, informing them about the grubby collaboration of three discrete domains, namely cricket, Bollywood, and business.

The book was published in 2010 and is broadly based on The Fake IPL Player blog that started off in 2009. Its release coincided with the start of the third installment of IPL. Reputed magazine India Today has placed The Gamechangers at the 9th position on their 2010 list of Top 10 national bestsellers.

    A highly enjoyable read!

Irrespective of what has been commented. I found the Gamechangers to be a very engaging and enjoyable read. The subtle humour and the grip over an interesting story line, all add up to a good read. If you do not have a knack for reading intelligent stories, avoid this book. It is not for stupid people.

    Kudos Mr.Mukherji. Well written!

    Boring stuff!

What happens when a viral blog gets expanded into a book - this boring piece. One of my worst buys ever - the book failed to grab my attention and lacked humor; so much that completing the book was such an ordeal.

The only mildly funny parts, are the ones that are already up on the Fake IPL Player blog. The rest of it is all simply boring stuff, written just to fill up pages and make some money out of the blog that went viral.

    Regret the purchase!
