Dastan-i-Kashmir

Mr. Shafi Ahmad’s The Half Widow is an important addition to the handful of historical fiction novels that have portrayed the troublesome lives, in recent times, of the residents in the picturesque state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
This novel begins, much like in the opening scene of a movie, showing a woman scrubbing pots and pans in a kitchen late at night. Her son questions the reason for their move from the village to the city, where the life is so different and the family she works for t...

wonderful work indeed

it was nice to read your book "the half widow". it brings to forefront the real picture of kashmir in general and the plight of half widows in particular. the immense sufferings of the women whose husbands were subjected to enforced disapperence is beautifully sketched, which deserves appereciation.
the undue mainstreaming seems misfit to the context but overall a nice work.
thanks for writing such a wonderful novel.

These form the unlucky lot of our land which live under the constant threat of society, economic imbalances and the destined fate. Shafi Ahmad has done an excellent job by highlighting the issues of these widows which has engulfed the major portion of our society.

The armed struggle in Kashmir and its consequences are depicted in a nice way and there is no word to appreciat...

ban this book

May b some HR violations r true but the author has used his writing skills for propganda purpose. He makes a passing remark about KPs.Did they not suffer why ignore them and write his story about own community.Where is the balance.
Better ban this book
