Summary of the Book

The universe is a large and empty space. It has billions upon billions of galaxies, and each of these galaxies have billions upon billions of star systems. These star systems boast dozens of planets, many of them capable of sustaining life just like Earth. However, the universe, no matter how unimaginably immense as it may sound, may not be the end of the playing field. There could be a parallel universe. There could be more than one parallel universe. A parallel universe is an alternate reality existing alongside ours. Considered the stuff of Science Fiction, of late the theory is achieving fast popularity among theoretical physicists as a solution to explaining several of the universe’s mysteries. So what if there are parallel universes, existing in tandem and working their magical effects on each other? What if these universes can be bridged? Can space travel become more accessible? According to popular theoretical physicist Brian Greene, there are nine types of parallel universes. He discusses these models, explaining why physicists are talking about them seriously. About Brian Greene

Brian Randolph Greene is an American scientist and theoretical physicist. He is a pioneer of the string theory and a professor at Columbia University. The chairman and co-founder of the World Science Festival, he has contributed towards mirror symmetry, the flop transition, and is a contributor to the popularization of science through his books: The Elegant Universe, Icarus at the Edge of Time, and The Fabric of the Cosmos.

Dr. Greene has also appeared on The Big Bang Theory episode "The Herb Garden Germination", as well as the films Frequency and The Last Mimzy. He was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize in Nonfiction category for The Elegant Universe, and won the Aventis Prizes for Science Books. He hosted and narrated a PBS television special of the same name, winning a Peabody Award in 2003.
