amazing imagination !!

this first one in the trilogy is just great...gets into thick of things pretty early and maintains the momentum...the ending great too...though because it is in narration mode by the main character, the outcome was more or less known

Absolutely Thrilling - Buy It

The Hunger games presents the post-apocalyptic future which is plausible and even possible if Mankind doesn't learn. Anyway, the story provides in this Book is linked with the issues of real world such as oppression, exploitation of weak and the resources of earth. This sort of theme makes the book really interesting to read for longer time. Book has numerous twists and great ending and will not disappoint any buyer who loves books.

Hindi Movie Material?

One of our fellow reviewers called the book contrived silly and sophomoric! Yet a page turner! Boy was our friend confused!
However there is a element of truth in this. The author has done to death the concept of a post apocalyptic controlled world. The Matrix meets Resident Evil meets Book of Eli!
However should any of our Hindi movie producers want to do a masala movie, they could get in touch with the authors. I personally am not buying the second and third book of the trilogy!

Thrilling, Exciting... but childish

Story is great, adventurous and thrilling .Though it has a lot of brutality as kids murder kids.
At the same time it is filled with tell-tales of teenage and childhood.
I would not advice any adult 2 read it as it would appeal only to younger generations.

Good read for teens, not recommended for the sophisticated reader

Going by the popularity and rave reviews this book has garnered world wide, it should have been an interesting read, especially for science fiction fans. Unfortunately, it is more likely to appeal to teenagers or "Young Adults" as they are known popularly. Mature readers are likely to find this book laughable, unbelievable, and too simple for their tastes.

Here's the plot summary [No spoilers]:

In a dystopian world that used to be North America, two dozen hapless kids from 12 suppressed dis...

MINDBLOWING

This book is just spectacular!!!The topic of this book is very good, very different for the books usually written today. If you are bored with vampires and werewolves, this is the book to read. Many people compare it with Twilight but, frankly speaking Hunger Games and Twilight are completely different (except the love-triangle thing). All the three books of the HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY are awesome. All the characters of this books are wonderful and have their own part to play.I'm sure that the readers...

It engulfs you..

The book certainly engulfs you within it. Personally, I found it really interesting and it forced me to go through it within 2 days. Its plot and the way of writing both accounts for a perfect result, i.e, the book. Although, it is not a hardcore brutality and hatred story. It has a mixed dose of romance and psychology when one's forced to kill, when people around them die. In my opinion, it has no resemblance to Twilight whatsoever [as mentioned below]. In fact, with comparison to Twilight,...

Contrived, silly and sophomoric - a real page turner.

It's actually my fault that I didn't do enough research on the book before ordering it. Had I done that, I would've known that despite its dark, Orwellian, Battle Royale-like plot, it's a young adult novel written for a target audience comprising Twilight-loving, Teen Choice Award-voting pre-teens yuppies. The end result is a contrived, pseudo-gritty novel with the potential of a 1984 but the writing style and substance of a Twilight or Princess Diaries.

But what it lacks in soul, it makes u...

Nice!

The book: Exhilarating! This is my first time reading Collins's writing and all I can say is splendid. It was a good journey through out the book. Will buy the second installment of this trilogy.

Flipkart: Good packaging and delivery service!
