    Description

The Immortals Of Meluha is a thrilling story about a warrior named Shiva, who is given the responsibility to protect the empire of Meluha from dangerous intruders. This mythological novel is fast-paced, and focuses on duty, love, principles and more.

    Summary Of The Book

The land of Meluha is an empire created by Lord Rama, and it is ruled by the Suryavanshis. This empire is powerful and proud, however, the Saraswati river that is their source of water is slowing drying up. On top of that, the empire is at war with the Chandravanshis who have allied with The Nagas, a group of sinister and deformed human beings who have extraordinary martial art skills.

The Immortals Of Meluha, published in 2010, is the first story of the trilogy. Daksha, the king of the Suryavanshis, realizes that his empire needs help. He invites a tribe from Tibet to help him fight off the enemies. The Tibetan Guna tribe is lead by Shiva, who is a fearless soldier, and the only one who does not fall ill on arriving at Meluha. To everyone's surprise, Shiva’s throat turns blue.

The locals believe that this warrior is their fabled saviour Lord Shiva, also known as Neelkanth. Shiva goes to Devagiri to meet Daksha and his daughter Princess Sati. There, he learns about the dangerous wars and terror attacks that the Chandravanshis have carried out on the Meluhans.

The brave warrior gets enraged, and declares a full war on the enemy. Readers will find this mythological fantasy to be gripping and exciting. Questions about Shiva’s duty, destiny, and karma arise throughout the book. The author has written a book that is adventurous, mystifying, and captivating, but at the same time he also has thrown light onto the subjects of what is evil, and who is truly a hero.

This page-turner is a treat for readers who enjoy history, fantasy, and adventure. The Immortals Of Meluha received good reviews from leading newspapers, and was a bestseller within its first week of release.

Awesome book and other top books

There are few authors in India who write exceptionally well. Amish is one of those. I am a vivid reader and read almost all the books that come my way. This stands fifth.

    Amazing work

Simply loved the way book was presented, and the flow of story. It picks up at the right times. Also, the descriptions by the author are very simple, yet sharp.

It is a book that once you pick up, is very hard to leave. So make sure you read this over a weekend!

    Truth or Myth

First of all, I'd like to convey the readers of my review that I haven't read this book. I'm writing this only because I feel that some of the content posted by other reviewers was offensive to the "Great Indian History".

    1. Only a person who has complete knowledge of Indian History is allowed to "certify" something as Myth.

    2. One of the reviewers has mentioned that there is no mention of Rama in vedas. I think he is the author of those vedas.
Vedas start with 'Harihi om'. I can explain th...

    Good story poorly written

Amish Tripathi weaves a splendid but totally fictional & fantasised account of Shiva's traivails.

For the folks looking for Lord Shiva's mythologicaly accurate chronical would feel frustrated. This book is certainly not for the purists; they should explore authetic SHIVA PURAN for that goal.

This is a fabricated, but very well conceptualised story, weaving together the history(Indus Valley Civilization), geaography ( North Indian plains above the Vindhayas) & mythology; it still is a fantas...

    Party spoiler is here!

There are books which are written for reading and then there are books which are written for movie making. This one falls in the latter category. Reads like a movie script.

A far better work could have been written when your central character is one of the strongest characters in Hindu mythology. The author takes Lord Shiva and reduces him to the level of a hollywood movie actor or even worse.

If you think chetan bhagat deserves a man booker award then you may recommend this for a nobel i...

I would not say it was a really great read or good read. But it was fine. Everyone was raving about this about but it wasn't that great as I expected it to. But apart from that flipkart delivery was prompt and on the best price!

    Questions and Answers
Q:Does this book depict the real life of lord shiva? Or a imagined one by the author?
A:It has nothing to do with the established concepts. It's a fiction, attempting to impart more humanly logical and materialistic elements into the storyline. This is not a theistic event.

Q:I don't know the story of shiv yet, even the basic knowledge of his story. Will it be easier for me to catch up the plot of the book?
A:Yes. Don't read the book as if reading story of shiv, read the story like you are reading for a common man who distinguished himself through his Karma.
