I am just speechless after reading this book. And the reception of Man-Booker Award speaks for itself. Only I would like to quote the comment by India Today- "A delightful original book, a triumph of the storyteller's art, nuanced, and even worthy of the most overworked term: luminous."

It is no doubt a good book. But yes, it isn't really a page turner. In fact at times, it drags on and on and you just want it to end, this happens in the middle phrase. The idea behind the book is good but the portrayal can at times give you a headache. This isn't one of the books that make you go "Ahh..wow..I really read a good book!" once you finish reading it, and neither does it make you wish it never ended. You're gonna be glad it ended.

Its got very good english and very old style writing. the book is a pure pleasure to read. the starting is slow and rustic but then the book builds pace and is very very good. its one of the best books by an indian author and really will hold its own. vivid descriptions.

it provides a lot of support and enthusiasm for the readers.The good thing is readers can also the other books written by the same author which is helpful for the researchers. We get all fiction and non-fictions books which means we can choose the book to our interest and for common readers we can get good stories in good discounts. It provides books in all kind of fields i.e for political social,religious,etc.And even children books are available which is a good advantage of practice reading...

Anita Desai is not an Indian, always remember. Actually this sort of people always tends to became an English keeping themselves to making English people happy. Novel is good but not for everyone.

A great style of writing, superb vocab. Excellent characters and backdrop. Everything is nice about the book apart from the fact that this book will be in your mind for several days together making you feel depressed and sad for a long time. Well, such is the power in the writing by Kiran Desai.
