Sydney Schanberg is a New York Times journalist covering the civil war in Cambodia. Together with local representative Dith Pran, they cover some of the tragedy and madness of the war. When the American forces leave, Dith Pran sends his family with them, but stays behind himself to help Schanberg cover the event. As an American, Schanberg won't have any trouble leaving the country, but the situation is different for Pran; he's a local, and the Khmer Rouge are moving in.

The Killing Fileds
A great epic. The political climate is well portrayed on screen. The characters play their roles well, the body language conveys the unspoken words in many scenes. John Lennon's 'Imagine' playing out in the end makes one's eyes teary.
The biggest grouse of this DVD is that there is no subtitles. I think that takes out the joy of watching. Shemaroo shouldn't be in this business, if they can't give a good product. Shame.
The movie gets a full 5 star. But, Shemaroo is the killjoy.
