The Only Fatherland is a detailed study into the advent of communism of India and the roles it has played in the Quit India Movement.

    Summary of the Book

Arun Shourie writes about his opinions on communism in India. He questions whether communism has the answers to everything, and tries to portray their views on topics such as Indian Independence and the Quit India Movement. He discusses their response to the end of the communist bloc, and the insurrection in1949 when the communists claimed India was ripe for an armed revolution. He reveals the actions of the communists during the Quit India Movement, and the secret negotiations and understandings they struck with the British. He also follows up this treatise with an explanation of what the communists did to subvert Mahatma Gandhi’s movement and the reactions of the communists to the fall of USSR. This is an essential read for all history enthusiasts.
