Summary of the Book
The City of Illian has fallen to the forces of the Dragon Reborn. Rand al’Thor has defeated Sammael the Forsaken, and he has pushed back the invading Seanchan. Nynaeve, Elayne and Aviendha have managed to break the Dark One’s hold over the world’s weather, and Elayne turns her eyes on her homeland of Andor. Egwene al’Vere, the leader of the rebel Aes Sedai, seeks to wage war on the White Tower and unite the Aes Sedai by any means necessary. However, the male channellers of the One Power are turning mad. The taint on Saidin is slowly eating away at them, and soon, they will lose themselves to the foulness. However, Rand al’Thor makes a deadly statement. He claims that he will cleanse the Source. But before he can, the Seanchan ready their counter strike.
