    Outstanding

    Outstanding story, fabulously worded.

Many romance novels are written but, this was one which gave a feel of real life.
Somewhere there is a feeling you get when you get so immersed in the novel.

I was impressed with this one after reading some more than 50 romance novels.
Was never thrilled and felt so close to a character.
Language and structure is the first clue, that author has imagination and IQ to match it.

Very well written. Real life romance, which has a sizzle but yet a l...

    Lovely read

This is the unusual love story of Shashwat and Gauri. Told through the eyes of the protagonist Gauri, it talks about her dilemma, her aspirations and her desires. Shashwat is younger than Gauri and hence she cannot accept him as her husband though they have been married, mostly because in our country the opinion of the girl doesn't matter. And if she has crossed the dreaded age of 25 and is still single, the society takes it upon themselves to see that she is married and settled as early as p...

    Complex and Refreshing

Dr.Nandita Bose spins a wonderful web of situations in this book. The book makes for fast reading, mostly because it is so gripping, your mind is racing forward to know what happens next.

The author's style of writing is conversational. The reader is presented with situation after situation through which the story is told - or is it? Interspersed between the dialogue are crucial words that so perfectly set up the scene, the context - that the reader is transported into the dialogue and into ...

    The Promise is fulfilled

The book promises something alluring, something just out of reach... the promise of true, idyllic love that is unfortunately for the protagonists not clear right away but very fortunate for the readers who get to relish this unusual love story.

My first thought was that the story is just ready to be turned into a Theater or movie script. Its that tight and graphic. Its narrative style is languid, packed with raw emotions. Its kind of Tagore meets Nicholas Sparks if you ask me, though the aut...

    Real & sensitive!

I finished reading the book in just one go!
As usual Nandita's characters and her description were very real and the narrative very sensitive.
Loved the 'good feeling' that hung around me while I was immeresed in the book & also till much later.
And yes! I did miss the book once I had finished reading it.

    A fragrance-filled read

The Perfume of Promise is a novel that rises above and beyond the Romance genre. Like Sandalwood, it leaves your thoughts fragranced long after you have finished reading the book.

The marriage of Sashwat and Gauri is not wrought on rosy dreams- indeed the age difference makes Gauri reluctant to go through it but with the socioeconomic burdens of the lower middle class Bengali household she lives in, she demurs.

The novel, set in Kolkata paints exquisite pen and ink sketches of the three ...
