Definately a MUST READ

The Pregnant King..one of the most wonderfully written book i have come across in the recent time. The story is gripping, as Dr Pattanaik takes us through the stories from Mahabharata. Our mind explores on ideas of right and wrong on the gender bias that exists in the society. Excellent book to read, recommend to every readers out there.

Great Book

Devdutt Pattanaik is a master of words...

He has written a very lucide tale.

The story gives few important lessons

1. What you reap is Wht you sow.
2. Parents Love can't be compare to anything else in this world.

Good one and Capturing till end

The story telling in the book is capturing till end.
Pros : Interesting and nicely presented to keep readers intact till the end.
Got to know clarity of many important characters in epics
Cons : Its a story telling only in the book. Dr. Pattnaik have given really beautiful insights and his thoughts in books like Shiva to Shankara, SITA- Ramayan which is missing in this book though. Its not exactly a cons although, but would have been more nice to have included these too.

The Pregnant King - a must read

What is truth and what is not? What is good and what is evil? What is correct and what is incorrect? I have read a lot of books that deal with the above questions. But, this fantastic novel puts forth a different question. Who is man and who is woman? Who is mother and who is father? Does this matter at all?

A different, unique and intriguing story based on Mahabharata. Like Mahabharata, this book is also not merely a single story - it's collection of many similar stories interwoven with eac...

Good 18+ book

This is a fictional story(slightly modified version by Devdutt) of Yuvanashva king who lived during times of Mahabharata. The story runs in parallel to Mahabharat yudh and in the end draws comparisons to it.

It is good to read but I would like to add that some section of book contains text which may not be suitable for reading(sharing with) minors. For ex. the description of what women wore and sex change(disambiguation)

Still a must read if you are a Devdutt Fan and love Indian Mythology.

Absolutely Amazing

brilliantly written. The best part about the book is that u'd never feel as if you are reading a work of fiction. The characters have been developed brilliantly and since the story runs parallel to the mahabharata's , it can be related to very easily. It's an intriguing story witha number of stories intricately woven to create this work of masterpiece.Would recommend everyone to read this book

A must read.

A Prime example how an indigenous author can not get the desired exposure due to the "western anglicised" bent of our english press.
Devdutt's insight of the golden age of the subcontinent, the society structures and his understanding of human psychology shine thru the story. Clearly sketched and fleshed characters and colourful evocative settings bring forth to life a time and place much beyond our imagination.
There is much to reject and there is even more to accept and understand here. T...

One of the best fiction novel!

Pregnant King is one of the best fiction novel, story is gripping and enlightening, it makes you thinking, Devdutt Patnaik excelled in expanding the imagination and creating a story which run parallel to greatest Indian mythology Mahabharata. I was little disappointed as I was expecting much more from this, as I have read other devdutt patnaik books
