Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

What do the different tags like 'In Stock', 'Available' mean?

      'In Stock'

Products‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Available'

Products listed as ‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'

The product is not released yet. You can however ‘book’ an order for this. Shipping happens only after the product launch.

      'Out of Stock'

Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.

      'Imported'

Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.

      'Back In Stock Soon'

The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.

      'Temporarily Unavailable'

The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.

      'Permanently Discontinued'

This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.

      'Out of Print'

This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.

Why does the estimated delivery time vary for each seller?

Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.

Please enter your default pin code on the product page to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Seller does not/cannot ship to my area. Why?

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location
      • Legal restrictions, if any, in shipping particular products to your location
      • The availability of reliable courier partners in your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

    Description

The Reverse Journey is about a young man, who after spending a few years working in the US, feels a longing to get back to India.

    Summary Of The Book

The Reverse Journey is a semi-autobiographical novel. The author mixes in his own experiences with the dreams, hopes and the heartaches of so many young people who follow the American dream. Yet, after a time, they feel a yearning for their own country and their own people. The protagonist of the novel belongs to this group. He gets a job after finishing his studies. Then, he decides to follow the example of his friends, and gets a job in the US. He spends five years working in that country.

After five years, he still has not applied for a Green Card, which is unusual for any young man who wants to settle in America. The problem is, he does not want to remain in America. He feels an indefinable urge to go back to India, much to the amazement of his friends, and the consternation of family members. He is himself unable to find any particular reason for his longing. He has been away from his family for most of his life. He had been to boarding schools and while in college, he had stayed in hostels. So, it was not the pull of his home and his family.

As he tries to analyze his own reasons, his friends all come up with arguments to show him why he should not go back. After all, he has a good job in a stable firm, and has a good life. If he goes back, he will have to work for much less than what he earns in America. Why lose so much of the comforts and luxury to indulge a whim for which he himself does not know the reason is the stand taken by his friends. But, he knows he has to go back. He has met some older people who have spent decades in the US, and still feel a vague longing for home. One of his older friends is frequently asserting to himself, that one day he will go back.

So now, he has to decide for himself what he wants, the luxury and comforts of the American life, or the familiarity and assurance of his own country. It is a dilemma faced by many young people who have moved away from their country, and each has to find their own path. The protagonist of this novel tries to find his own answers too. The Reverse Journey is the author’s attempt capture the dreams and the frustrations of many young people who try to start a new life in another country.

    It is my story also

A commendable job by a first time author. A must read for all the software engineers who have made their lives a rat race in this world of competition by running after promotions, ratings and onsite opportunities.
The author very beutifully, throughout the book, makes us realise how we, as s/w engineers have forgotten to live and enjoy those small things in life which used to make our day as a kid. I loved the innovative choice of comparisons used in the book, like US being father, India-Paki...

    The Reverse Journey- A Review

I read this book.. and its quite thought provoking, as-in the way India and USA are compared, and after making the comparison the desire of the author to come back to India is something which is quite great. India and USA are both different counteries with different set of ppl n different culture, the 'DREAM OF USA' is nthng but can be a chewing gum... quite fresh n new n juicy n tasty n irresistable at the start, but gradually everything fades away..and just like u throw a chewing gum, after...

    Good journey!

I ordered this book on flipkart and got it on perfect time. This book is written in a simple free flow english. Very neatly expressed opionions which are very much balanced comparing both the US & Indian cultures. There was not one incident in this book which discounted any of the cultures. It's really tough for any author to maintain such a balance on opinions and put in a optimistic way or may be should say one's perception. Mr. Singh did a splendid job.
I just ordered this book based on r...

    Truth of Journey

I had been among the few who read this book. This book touches the life of most of people across of the world and particularly people who migrates from home to another home for better opportunity. Its struggle of finding whats the happiness in context to people who matters to you, the crowd, nature you grew up in, food, taste etc..
It touches the live of, i think, each and every indian who wants to migrate to US or anywhere away from home. It expresses the feeling deep within without any fil...

Congratulations to Mr.Singh on his first book- The Reverse Journey!
This book is quite a page turner!! It kept me hooked till the end with its easy flow and witty comparisons. If you had or have plans to r2i(like me) you won't believe how much of yourself you will find in this book. The author does a marvellous job in bringing out a perfect blend of humor a...

    Review of "The Reverse Journey"

Although the book seems to be based on author personal experience, it represents sentiments and feelings of millions of Indians working abroad in search of better opportunities, success and money. But they are not able to absolve themselves of the burden of loss of their first class citizenship, their family ties, their indegenous identity and relationships. Vaiety of insecurity, uncertainty and loneliness always hound them overshadowing their illusion of success. Happiness drifts farther and ...

A Good read for people who dream for a job in abroad

This book is a placid narration of a middle class not so rich young man beginning his educational career as a common young man reaching IIT-a dream of all brilliant students in India. This narration christend as a book of story is without any plot, mystery, fantasy and power to surprise convincingly of traditional stories.
Written by a Bihari IITian from IIT, Kanpur, it’s a modest attempt of a man of science & technology- alien to the literary culture trying to establish fusion of the two cul...

Interesting and entertaining take on the dilemma NRIs face

This is a great little book that has many endearing qualities. From the cultural prism that the author uses to interpret his new surroundings in the USA, to all the nuances of his day to day interactions with his new acquaintances, it presents a compelling case to stay as well as to move back. It is always interesting that the same set of experiences can lead people to different 'decisions'. I put decisions in quotes as I suspect that in some cases, it is more inertia than a real decision.

Just finished this book. A shocking truth, honestly narrated by Vivek Kumar Singh very smoothly. Old age is a time when we can not lie with ourselves.
At last, it matters who you really are and where you belong to. Excellent work.

Honest feelings that have been penned

Loved reading the book. It is a true story and what touches you the most is the honest feelings that have been penned in the book. Like a true engineer, Vivek has tried to analyse most of the major happenings and actions. His findings and explanations are very simple. But, sometimes, too much of this analysis takes the creativity and imagination away. I liked the description of the childhood and hostel life which is so familiar to many of us. Would surely recommend it.
