Certainly a gem for aspirants. Not only it carefully mentions most works of philosophers, but also gives short biographical glimpse of their lives. Quite an engaging, fuller appetizer; Best one can start with.

The book is a good one but there is no details about the Indian or Chinese philosophy (there are some references though). It is the European philosophy which is explained. Anyways it is good enough to keep you engaged long enough to finish it.

A best book to begin with to acquaint with philosophy. The author has imbued the whole work with passion, clarity and brevity. The nuances of each philosophical idea is explained without turning pedantic and the striking vein of agility in his style provides a colorful read.
