  • Description
About the Book A perfectly written script goes awry when Arjun encounters the unexpected. His belief in occult injustice solidifies when he, on one hand, fails to clear the much coveted IMS entrance exam and on the other hand, his friend Mohan gets more than what he deserved in life. Unable to cope up with this unfairness, he becomes directionless. With no way forward and some strained relations, he reaches the peak of monotony in his life and has nowhere to draw his inspiration from. One day suddenly he gets hold of a device called The Symbol which promises to solve all his problems. Can The Symbol help him come out of his vows? Will he be able to rise above the so called injustice and prove his mettle? It is a journey that takes a peek into finding a new perspective and chartering inspiration from unknown territories, where none was thought to have existed. About the Author Varun Gautam makes his debut as an author with his book The Symbol: the story that is an amalgamation of fictional and factual experiences. After completing his engineering from Pantnagar University, he started working as a computer professional in one of the India's prominent IT Company. He is currently settled in New Delhi and married to Anjali. He was fond of writing since his early days and has never let this creative bug of writing go away from him. The journey that started with casual school board articles has taken a new impetus with the advent of his first book. Through his stories, he wants to spread a message across to bring about a change in the mind-set of the people. He is fond of watching movies. Lately travelling has become his newest passion. Covering entire India is surely on his wish list.

    A good read

The trend was started by CB and continued with many engineers. Writing about their experiences in IITs and IIMs or else any common engineering college. Market is flooding with these kind of works and it’s rare to find something unusual to read. By God's grace there are some writers who are differentand this work and writer is one of them. Few days back, I got work ‘The Symbol’ by Varun Gautam for review. Cover page of the novel gave me ‘Dan Brown feeling’ with symbols, numeric dancing here an...

Not the Regular Book, Nicley narrated

Narrated because on reading it I was like listening to a story and was in the scene somewhere(In the room, on scooter, on the bench in the school, in the bad office, near the pan wala, in the hospital, everywhere). A very nicely written book with the cricket string in it which is played at right times. I thought its a new writer so the book must be some sort of love story but it came to me as a surprise. The book has the emotion "love" in it !ofcourse!but not a love story. Hats off to the wri...

Easy to read… easier to connect with.

Each one of us can relate to our own experiences in life via this book. Its like 'Been there and done that' feeling. Felt nostalgic visiting those wonderful memories & the energetic period of life. Not too heavy on philosophy, 'the symbol' is a easy to read book. Its a must one time read. Highly recommended for 15-25 age group.

Nicely narrated story. kudos to the author for this great effort....

Most exciting part of the story was the authors idea of drawing parallels with the ups and downs of Indian Cricket Team's Captain Mr.Dhoni. Also his simplicity of expressing thoughts make the reader able to visualize the happenings and able to empathise with the characters of the story. A lot of us fails in our journey called life but only few are able to continue that path; most of us leave that path and think of other comfortable options. We all are one or other way doing what we get comfor...

    The Symbol

The characters were masterfully written so that you felt their aches, their doubts and their successes in each chapter. Your heart breaks, you cheer and you hold your breath until you turn blue as you race to finish reading this book.
