An awesome read!

The first book by Jvalant and an awesome one at that. The research that has gone into this book is simply brilliant. I have always been a buff for historical fiction and Jvalant has done a brilliant job. The novel is fast paced and moves fast between various cities of the world. There is a perfect blend of historical characters such as the spy princess and JRD Tata and this shows how well researched the book is. One thing that was hard to believe was the speed and ease with which the protago...

What a story!

The way Jvalant Nalin Sampat has with an amazing dexterity commandeered a maze of historical events into a drama of suspense giving it at the same time its due sprinkling of wit and humor and even shades of romance is commendable and stands as an eloquent testimony to the wide and deep research that he has obviously done. This book was hard to put down - if you appreciate good English and a complex story - this book is for you. If your English is weak and you want a simpler storyline - you sh...

Gripping (Master)Piece of Work

I am a history buff. If that is the reason to love this book, be so. But I must admit, 'The Tenth Unknown' happens to be the first book that I have ever read in my entire life. So, this makes Jvalant Nalin Sampat my instant favorite writer. I finished reading the book in couple of hours, and there was not a single instance where I felt the need to flip back few pages and sync with any character I was reading. The plot was so well imagined that upon the end of one chapter, I had no choice but ...

Certainly not worth 242 rupees!

This book is nothing but a terribly failed attempt to write a wonderful review. At point it is full of emotions and at the very next there hardly seems to be any. This is best illustrated at the two deaths of people who knew the protagonists. This novel is best illustrated through a real life example. Imagine that a load of fine silk yarn is given to an over excited teen who has just learned to weave. He makes a far from perfect cloth which can be appreciated only because it has fine thread in...

Amazing Thriller

What amazes the most in this book was Jvalant’s boldness and extreme research. Not every author can infuse the mysterious rumor as a fiction into facts, reality and history successfully. It doesn’t matter if you love reading world history or not (I don’t, for instance), Jvalant’s way of storytelling will surely make you get addicted to his book.

All in all, a great book for all thriller, mystery and history lovers and for all those rare humans who have heard or read about the nine unknowns, ...

Its a patriotic book! not a thriller !!!

I have heard of the NINE UNKNOWNS before and it was the main reason why i bought this book. But I was truly disappointed after fifty pages. What could have been a mind blowing story in the hands of a genius writer turned out to be nothing short of a bunch of overtly patriotic passages which kinda took away the book from its thriller genre. To be honest there was no trill at all. After every 2 pages you'll find the passage or sometimes an entire page devoted to love for the motherland. After f...

Brilliant

The writer with amazing dexterity mixes fact with fiction and you are often left to wonder how he manages to pull off a yarn that is so complex with such a taut narrative style. The book is fast-paced in the tradition of American thrillers and yet is completely Indian - starting off at the time of King Asoka's rule in Magadha and ending with India's independence.

Ode to history

I wish the history we learned in school was presented as interestingly - would've remembered much more of it! In short, excellent blend on historical facts and creative fiction. Will look forward to his next book. A must read!

Engrossing and delicious tale

The historical thriller genre is one which has been extensively explored by western and European authors. This doesnâ??t mean that their Indian counterparts have not attempted to do the sameâ?¦but it is true that they have been unable to make their mark. â??The Tenth Unknownâ?? is one of those few Indian historical thrillers which do justice to its premise and carry their plot all through to the end. Combining fact, myth, fiction and lore the author weaves a engrossing and delicious tale whic...
