The impressionistic story of a Texas family in the 1950s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.

The Tree of Life
Not for people who are looking for fast paced entertainment. Terrence Malick makes movies which are meditations about human nature - our aspirations, hopes, fears, cruelty and our redemption.
If you are depressed or missing someone or if you are in the mood for some reflection about human nature (and its very existence), you will probably love the movie. The Tree of Life is slow and unstructured. It is also unquestionably beautiful and moving.
