The book is a set of short stories woven together within the larger framework of a looming disaster, a tsunami, that hit southern India and surroundings. A group of tourists, visiting the Andamans and staying in Port Blair come together and manage their anxiety and distress while waiting to be rescued. All the while they try to keep calm resorting to the old fashioned technique of storytelling. These are not stories of women empowerment but how ordinary women empowered themselves when facing difficult situations.
