Q:is outer dial is a compass?

A:No. There are, in total, 4 needles. One shows seconds, one shows minutes, another one shows hours. The fourth needle points towards North when pressing the compass key.

Q:how to check temperature

A:Use the corresponding key, and the appropriate hand will move towards indicated temp. Better to use it off the hand to avoid variations from body temp.
