    About the Book

Set during the Great Depression in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, To Kill a Mockingbird revolves around Jean Louise Finch, an intelligent yet unconventional girl whose age ranges from six to nine in the three years that the novel covers. While the characters of this book are remotely based on Harper Lee’s observations of her family and neighbours, its plot is based on an event that occurred in Lee’s hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, in 1936.

    About the Author

    Beautiful..

It's sad that Harper Lee never wrote any other book in her life. She did help her friend in his (Capote), but I wish she'd had written more. She has a gift and it's sad that we will now never be able to read more from her (she has issues, keeps forgetting things, is very sick).

As far as the book is concerned, I have heard of its name in American shows and movies since forever. So I just HAD to read it. Now that I HAVE read it, I won't deny it. It's one of THE best pieces of work ever writte...

    A MUST READ

The story is set in the quiet town of Maycomb, Alabama. It revolves around a family of 3- Atticus and his two children- Scout and Jem. this story is about the lessons Scout, a girl of 6, learned about people and about life. She learns four major lessons over the course of the book partly from Atticus and partly from her own experiences. These lessons are :-
    1. you dont understand someone until you put yourself in their shoes,
    2. dont kill mockingbirds,
    3. keep fighting even if you know you'l...

If only I could give A BILLION STARS to this book

All superlatives seem inadequate to say anything about this book..

It's hard to imagine how a book can be any more perfect than this one. On every basis - plot, setting, characterizations - it is a smashing success. But I suppose if there is one thing that stands out over everything else in the book, it is the wonderful (and not so wonderful) people who populate its pages...

It is inconceivable that a writer who could create so many memorable characters in so few pages would have confined h...

    Simply outstanding, beautiful

The author of this book wrote only one novel (which is this) and went into a hermetically sealed state, with not much of publicity or interviews or public interaction. Not hard to understand why, the novel speaks for itself, it's pure genius. It has a refreshing and fresh quality about it even though it's a tale about exploitation and its sordid ways. I've read a lot, but this novel touched in ways very few novels or stories have done or can do.
