Summary Of The Book

The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exams are conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and are considered to be extremely difficult. The exam is divided into three broad phases. The preliminary exam includes two objective papers on General Studies and Aptitude Test. Following this is the main exam, consisting of nine subjective papers. The papers included in this exam have 2 qualifying language subjects, one being compulsory English, and the second an optional language which is the candidates prerogative.

A total of four papers are dedicated to General Studies, in which one paper is dedicated entirely to essays. The final phase of the exam is the interview, also referred to as a Personality Test. It is imperative that the candidate must be of an Indian nationality to be eligible for this exam, and must be at least 21 years of age.

About The Authors

S. Nagarajan is an author and IAS officer.

After obtaining a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering in 2000, he started preparing for the IAS exams in which he obtained the coveted All India 1st Rank.

S. Sundar Rajan is an author and an Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer.

He has authored Dancing with Maharaja.

Sundar Rajan was born in Thiruvali. He holds an engineering degree from BITS, Pilani and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. He is currently posted in Goa as an Assistant Commissioner, and previously worked for Tata Chemicals.
