Simply learnt, how to give a majestic finish, an epic.

My first novel read in electronic form. And, I am glad, that I start with a masterpiece by the legend columnist/ novelist. Written in 1956, the background of the story gave me the idea of people's mind-set about the independence, a close intersection with the post independence situation, the babu saab culture and a perfect plot to choose the story of the last Indian village next to pakistan.

End of the story can not be this much meaningful and giving a justice to the title.

A must read.

Many instances brought to my eyes. It shows how religious fundamentalism leads to nothing but disaster

A walk back

It is incredible how the country hasn't changed much. Only the method has. Our belief system and our opinions and worse still our complete naivety of the games that are played.
Khushwant singh brought that time and period to life. The stark reality of the partition.
