Good to go for it
USB 3.0 connectivity is good and also compatible with USB 2.0. It is giving a speed starting with more than 100mbps but if file is large it get reduced to 40-50 mbps. But average speed is good. With USB 2.0 it has low speed 3-5 mbps.

A very useful and well built product
Busting the myths:
PROs:
1. The power cord is only necessary if using 2 external HDDs at once. 1 external HDD runs just fine without the power cord.
2. Direct movie play from external HDD. No power cord necessary.
3. Plugs in perfectly in the express card 34 slot (Before buying please make sure your laptop does have an express card 34 mm slot. This is also compatible with most express card 54 mm slots as well.
4. Tested speed of around 200 MBps from my external HDD (USB 3.0)

Field Test Results First -
All Transfers were made from an external powered 3.5" 7200 RPM USB HDD (Seagate 3 TB)
The test file was 8 GB in size on an NTFS partition.

The power cable everyone is talking about is just taking power from another USB 2.0 port from your laptop also it is optional Use it with device the draws More Power like HDDs else even without it should work.
I am getting over 100 MBps (or 800 mbps) over USB 3.0 Comparing it with USB 2.0 is 28 MBps (or 224 mbps).

Requires Power
This product pictures do not show the power cord that you need to connect to power this device.
The power cord draws power from usb port and connects to this adapter.
This makes is not useful to use for a laptop

Not at all USB 3.0
It's not giving much speed in my USB 3.0 Seagate backup plus External HDD.
Before this the speed was about 15-20 mbps & now it is giving 30-35 mbps.
Think before wasting your money..!!

Works like charm
I got this for non powered USB 3 devices I have that require 5 volt. Yes I have old motherboard and my PCI ExpressCard expansion has low bandwidth so not getting fast transfer as USB 3 should be, but I don't care as it solve my problem.

Buy for Windows 8 and above only.
This used to require poorly written drivers, and still does for Windows 7 and older, but for more modern operating systems, its plug and play.
Note the fact that it requires another USB connection to derive power, and not data from it. So, I recommend you hook this device up to a modern charger, which should help, which deliver around 0.5A to 1A(According to my experience)
