    Flipkart Official Review

A lot is happening in this book and rightly so – given the quirks of its main characters and the action from Mumbai to Goa and back, “Tuki’s Grand Salon Chase” is one heck of a read. Understated and witty, Parul knows her characters inside out and churns them out in the plot successfully to give the reader what he or she wants: A nice page turner.

Tuki wants her own salon. She now works at Nancy’s Factory and all her plans seem to go to waste with Faraaz’s entry to the salon as the new tattoo artist. She also is on the lookout for an elderly writer who has just disappeared and to save someone from destitution. Parul’s writing is brisk and yet sometimes it tends to be dragged in some parts. Besides this, this one is all in all your regular Sunday read. Something that will refresh and set you for the coming week

Tuki's Grand Salon Chase is about a young girl who is chasing her dreams of owning her own salon. A witty and insightful page-turner

As an inveterate people watcher, beauty salons have always held a special fascination for me. All my good intentions to get a big chunk of reading done while in the hair stylist’s chair usually go right out of the window. It is so much more fun to watch the patrons and stylists out of the corner of my mind and make up interesting back-stories for them. It doesn’t help that in the last decade or so, the stylists themselves have gotten so much more interesting.

    Parul Sharma’s third book Tuki’...

Fun, quirky characters and some great writing

I should confess that Tuki's Grand Salon Chase is not the kind of book I would usually pick up. But I heard about it from friends and family, and was intrigued. I shouldn't have worried. It turned out to be a very enjoyable read.

If, like me, you haven't read anything by Parul Sharma before, you might be tempted to slot this book into the chick-lit category, but it really doesn't deserve that stereotyping. For one thing, the writing here is witty and intelligent, and ranks many levels above...

    Loved it..

It was nicely paced and you get completely immersed into Tuki's character within the first few pages.. i loved her.. she's so full of plans and insecurities that it just makes it so relate-able. I initially thought it's gonna be a who-dunnit so a little disappointed form that aspect.. but maybe that could be the plot next time.. Tuki's character can definitely be made into a series..

I would have loved it if the book had had a few more pages.. i thought the story got over too fast.. My fav c...

    At a Fast Clip!

Wholly contemporary, fast paced, with delightfully quirky characters and changes of locale, Tuki's Grand Salon Chase is hard to put down. Each character is lovingly delineated, and Kaloo, the ever hungry dog, and Wolfie, the baby-inspiring infant, add to the interesting mix. Realities such as post-partum depression, hallucinations, work-place and romantic jealousies, sabotage, betrayal, all are part of this rich and complex tale. Parul Sharma is a novelist who is growing with every book. Look...

    Such A Long Journey

I started reading Tuki’s Grand Salon Chase on a Delhi train to Amritsar. The book was long finished before the train had pulled out of Ludhiana, but Sharma’s words stayed with me while I went about the lanes of Amritsar, greeting family members in a border town with a view of Lahore. Tuki and her travails stayed on my mind as I returned to Delhi. I didn’t forget her as I took holiday pictures in Agra and later watched tourists pouring over the red stones of Fatehpur and Sikri. Quite befitting...

    Author's best work yet

Parul Sharma is growing as a writer as witnessed in this new book - her best work yet. The characters are multidimensional, the plot is engrossing and the setting is both unique and riveting. The book is funny without being the Ha-Ha slapstick kind...the best sort of humor actually (another reviewer said wodehousian - yes!) It's also surprisingly poignant, definitely welcome!

Tuki is an endearing heroine and at the end I found myself hoping for a sequel. I want to know what happens to Salon ...
