A lot is happening in this book and rightly so – given the quirks of its main characters and the action from Mumbai to Goa and back, “Tuki’s Grand Salon Chase” is one heck of a read. Understated and witty, Parul knows her characters inside out and churns them out in the plot successfully to give the reader what he or she wants: A nice page turner.

Tuki wants her own salon. She now works at Nancy’s Factory and all her plans seem to go to waste with Faraaz’s entry to the salon as the new tattoo artist. She also is on the lookout for an elderly writer who has just disappeared and to save someone from destitution. Parul’s writing is brisk and yet sometimes it tends to be dragged in some parts. Besides this, this one is all in all your regular Sunday read. Something that will refresh and set you for the coming week

Tuki's Grand Salon Chase is about a young girl who is chasing her dreams of owning her own salon. She works at Nancy's Factory which is the salon for the chic and sophisticated, but this is not enough for Tuki. However, her well laid out plan goes haywire as she is not able to handle the new events of her life and decides to run away from them. 

Summary of the Book

Young Tuki is desperately looking out to start her own salon. She is talented and smart, but a change of events in her life changes things for her. She needs to handle tattooist Faraaz's advances, find out the mystery behind the brilliant writer Bijoy Dutta and rescue Sweety Bhabhi from destitution. As she is not able to handle all of this too well she decides to leave for the comfort of Goa. Here, she is struggling with her attraction towards the neighbour, the charming Arvind. She is sharing the house with Bijoy who is still unable to let go of his past. As time goes, Tuki decides to travel between Goa, Mumbai and London to figure out what she is going to do with her life. The story is about how Tuki finds love and hope in the most unlikely place.

Parul Sharma is a writer. She has contributed to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and the magazine Femina. She has also authored books like Bringing Up Vasu: That First Year and By the Water Cooler. She has received her graduation from Mudra Institute of Communications.
