Summary Of The Book

The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for qualification purposes into teaching posts at various universities and admissions into various Ph.D research programs. For science and engineering streams, NET is conducted by the UGC jointly with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

NET consists of three papers. The first paper consists of 50 objective type questions testing the general knowledge of the candidate. The second and third paper contain fifty and seventy five objective type questions respectively and test the knowledge of the candidate on a subject of their choice. The examinations are conducted twice a year.

Paper 1 of NET tests the general knowledge of candidates. It contains questions related to current affairs, important events, history, literature, sports, films, television, teaching and research, language skills, logical and analytical ability and various other disciplines.

UGC NET/SET Paper I contains all the information that students need to know to ace Paper 1 of the UGC NET. It contains chapters on areas from which questions are asked in Paper 1 of the UGC NET. These include Research Aptitude, Teaching Aptitude, Reading Comprehension, Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Communication, Information Technology, People and the Environment and the Higher Education System.

Apart from information relevant to Paper 1 of the UGC NET, UGC NET/SET Paper I is written in precise and simple language.
