This is a great book. I read it first time about 13 years back and it helped me understand the admin part of UNIX and its various flavors.

It does expect you to know some basics but once you know it and you have access to a UNIX machine, this book will help you do wonders.

Good one, if you are linux/unix administrator looking for good reference go for this one.

Yes, True, I'd read the previous edition, from our office library..

This edition, I tried to get from the famous book shops of Delhi, (most famous one's at Delhi's CP - name I don't want to mention) and their agents... They simply replied "Sir - Out Of Stock".... (for whatever reasons!)

You can rely on it. I have been studying Unix and Linux for several years. This is one of the outstanding books, I have ever studied. Well written, good coverage, lots of real life techniques. I will say a clear GO.

this is a Good book... but this is not the best, for a simple reason it simply too general. It talks about the technology but didn't provide an in-depth of that particular thing. i have to read many more books just to get more Knowledge for the same topic that i read here.
so my opinion... if you a beginner in the system admin Field its a good book but if you want a more hard core Knowledge of how things in linux work pls search some other material as well

Most of the corporate companies recruiters / Hr shoot questions from this book so before moving for an interview jus check with job description of the position and cover all the topics in that particular area in this book
