About V.S Khandekar
V.S Khandekar is best known for his Marathi literary works which include allegorical stories, plays, short stories, and novels.
His most famous work is Yayati which won him the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Jnanpith Award. He has also written Hirwa Chapha, Don Mane, and Kanchan Mruga.
Born on the 19th of January, 1898, Vishnu Sakharam Khandekar was a noted Maharashtrian writer. He had started his career as a school teacher in the district of Konkan, where he taught from the year 1920 to 1938. In his free time he would write some of his most noted works, which are widely read even today. He was elected the president of the Marathi Literary Conference after which he was also honored by the Indian Government with the Padma Bhushan for his notable literary output. He had also relieved D.Litt. from Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
