"What I Did For Love", this was suprisingly only a minor hit, but it is a very good song. A song about the bad side of love when you've been let down. of course this was not the first time Kenny had sung about the topic as the next track, a re recording of his 1969 Number 1 hit "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town", reminds us. A song about a solider who can't walk and can in fact barley move at all, yet his lover is still cheating on him. For anyone who hasn't heard the song before, this must sound very depressing and it is, but the melody of the song is so upbeat it makes it an amazing listen. To this day, despite the dark lyrics, Rogers performs this at concert and rather than tears and depression, the audience are dancing along and clapping their hands to the fun tune of the song.
However, it's not all doom and gloom. Rogers is the king of the tender love ballad as well as the story telling song. "Lady", "Love Lifted Me", "She Believes In Me", "You Decorated My Life" and such like are songs about wonderful romances.
