I was initially reluctant to make this purchase as never purchased WD product. However eversince I bought it, I am truly satisfied with this stuff. Good speed & reliability. No hassles of external power source. Did my research and I can conclude that this is the best product in that price bracket. Great value for money. Making this online purchase was cakewalk. No need to fill lengthy form during registration. Good job Flipkart. Bring some more deals.

I looked into all major hard disk drives manufacturer's available option, be it Seagette, Adata, Toshiba and what not. And spent a month researching on 1 TB Portable Segment. The sudden increase in price from approximately Rs. 4500 to around Rs. 6500 in a period of 6 months, is a bit disappointing but the beauty of this device, the quietness of the drive, the small size and the fact that is WD won't disappoint you AT ALL.

Those who know about choosing a good hardware products...they don't need suggestion. But those who are blind believers ,for them I would say ... its not that SEAGATE is what u have to choose if it comes to HARD DISKs. There are some very reliable and satisfactory product companies out there one of them is WESTERN DIGITAL(WD).I have been using "WD" as my internal hard disk for my PC from last 6 years. Now I bought the External one and i believe and hope its for lifetime.

I purchased this prod from flipkart a month bk thru COD. the service was as usual excellent , bcoz my place is on the outskirts of the city still i had the delivery within 3 days.

As for the product , I would say it is so much worth the money ( I had purchased it for 4888 :) luckily) . the size is smaller than what appears in the photo. it jus fits ur palm comfortably n isnt heavy either. As for the transfer rate ya it is fast enough even with USB 2.0 interface. So i would say all in all its...

this hard drive is a very good one. very small compared to other hard drives. easy to carry. easy to use. fits your pocket easily.

it supports USB 1.0 , 2.0 AND 3.0

i dont have a usb 3.0 so cant comment on it.
speed on usb 2.0 is around 25-30mbps
and on usb 1.0 it is 15-20mbps.

it has a capacity of 931gb.

does not heat up fast..

usb cable is not very long.

overall a very good hard drive.

I have Windows XP Professional. Plugged this HD and the laptop immediately recognized as a "Hard Disk Drives".
My laptop supports only USB 2.0
To measure the transfer time, I tried copying two chunks of data.
I have been using this hard drive for the past two hours.
1. Transfer of 16.4 gb of data from Laptop to HD took around 20 minutes
2. Transfer of 25.2 gb of data from Laptop to HD took around 30 minutes
Not sure if this speed ...

Flipkart delivered the product the next day in less than 20 hours. (I stay in New Delhi.)

Pros:
* Support for USB 3.0 and backward compatible with USB 2.0. (Its future ready.)
* No external power source required.
* Supports Linux OS (Ubuntu).
* Plays well in my Philips HTS3541. (Also purchased from Flipkart)

Cons :
* The product looks a bit cheap. Couldn't find any other cons.

I am using WD product for the first time, but I am highly satisfied and I definitely recommend this buy. A 1TB HDD at this price would be the best buy. I was only a little skeptical about the size. Though the flipkart picture shows it to be a fatty piece, it's shorter on the other hand and overall a very compact one.

It is an awsome portable hdd and it is compatible with windows 8 new os by microsoft. I think that this drive is far better than wd my passport series.......i am representing some pros and cons about this product:
