    Official Flipkart Review

It isn’t easy to write about your life, even if it is in a fictionalized format. Maybe there are some things that you do not want people to know and yet one cannot help but talk about those. “Wise enough to be Foolish” by Gauri Jayaram is one such book that chronicles her life (fictionally though and sometimes surely not very obviously) – the transformation of a girl to a woman.

The book’s biggest advantage is the honesty with which Gauri writes. There is no pretension or any amount of confusion. The story is as clear and written with ease and simplicity. Gauri knows her audience and almost writes to charm them – which she does to a very large extent. “Wise enough to be Foolish” takes stock of life – its ups and downs and the journeys we undertake to becoming the person that we are and want to be.

Wise Enough to Be Foolish is a book which traces the journey of an Indian girl’s life. Despite all the challenges and hurdles that come her way, she eventually blossoms into a confident young woman.

    Summary of the Book

Wise enough of be Foolish is the journey of girl from being an insecure clumsy child to being a confident independent woman. The story is set in India, and very beautifully portrays the various hurdles and difficulties an average Indian girl goes through to become independent and live life on her terms. The author writes about the trials, the mistakes she makes, the choices that go horribly wrong for her, but despite all this she eventually emerges out victorious.

    Racy and engrossing

I have a moratorium on buying books since I have more than a few to finish. So this is a book I wouldn't have bought if it were not that the author is my neighbour. So, normalise for any bias in this review.

This is a story of a girl-next-door's (well literally) feisty journey into adulthood and happiness. What's special about that you may ask. There are many interesting people out there after all. True, but few non-career writers can be so brutally honest with themselves, have the courage t...

    Deceptive desciption, and super boring

When I read the title, the reviews by big guns, I bought it without a second thought. I was expecting a story of girl who goes on hitchhiking, sees different places. Instead I read the long list of her ex-boyfriends and the lame explanations as to how they were wrong (and how Gauri was always right). I was least interested in it. And about her travel adventures; well they all were summarized in the last paragraph of this book. Every author does self bragging to some degree, but not to the ext...

Related with it as a woman in her late 30s!

Perhaps our children see, hear of and face less gender biases in today's age even if our society is not totally free from these issues but this story touches on issues that women my age have probably seen but may not have necessarily spoken out against. For taking the courage to do so I applaud the author, that too if it is indeed from her own life as several blogs claim. But, it's not a women's lib crusade, it's a simple, easy to read story, even funny at places.

I have never read a book as fast as this one!

I got my book yesterday.. and I was travelling today.. and it was the perfect companion! Im a very lousy reader... I can generally never usually get to more than 20-30 pages in one sitting.. but it was surprising, even to me, to find out that before I knew it.. I was at page 70.. and I kept reading and reading.. and completed the whole book on the same day! It is such an interesting, and honest story.. and there are a lot of take aways from this.. as a parent, and as a husband! I cannot help,...

    Its a page turner book

I loved this book "Wise Enough To be Foolish" The title itself is good enough to drag my attention. I have had the privilege of reading this and I like the gutsy girl who grew up from a small kid exposed to the ups and downs of the world. Every chapter is so exciting that I cant stop turning the pages.
Happy to recommend this to readers who love romance and passion :-)

    Honest and Neat!

a simple narrative and a good insight to a girl-next-doors life and struggle. What may make the readers wonder is "how can a lady just 28yrs, experience so much situations, moods and thoughts, but GOD has many ways to make a person what they are.

This is a good book to detox oneself and also to reflect on how much we have traveled in our own lives!

only if you can read anything..

I bought this book after checking out reviews.. but I am disappointed. The writing is too simple, and offers nothing special. I don't find it worth reading.. Buy only if you can read anything.. The book is "fast" because the language is too simple.

A story so true - it can be termed fictional!!

A Must Read for every Wise Guy and Gal!

Can so much really happen in the life of a 28 year old? While it seems like a fast paced movie; Gauri's narration makes it flow fluently. Reading the book one can only wonder about how strong a girl can get; right from the age of 15. And why did all these event's happen in her life? But as she points out - maybe it was God's way of showing her true self to herself.

We may be knowing many Gauri's in our neighbourhood or in our lives as well - but it ta...

    Outrageously Frank !!

I kind of liked the title of this book and that made me buy it.. it is a candid draft of a girls life who speaks her first hand take on various relations of her life.. at points i agreed to the view the author aired and at times i could feel the discomfort her way of thinking would have caused to the other characters.. it is outrageously frank piece of work..

Quiet a read...i wont rate is too good but not bad either..
