X-Men Origins: Wolverine  (for PS2)

The X-Men are a group of mutant human beings who came together under Professor Xavier to learn how to control their power and to use it for the good of humanity. Wolverine is one of the lead agents of the X-Men and he has the mutant power of rapid regeneration and increased agility. His bones were also infused with Adamantium which is a virtually indestructible metal. He also has six claws that come out of his fists, which he uses to hack and slash opponents while fighting.

X-Men Origins Wolverine was developed for the PSP by Griptonite Games and published by Activision. This action adventure game has been rated 16 by Pegi and T for Teen by ESRB as it may contain blood, tobacco reference and violence. This game makes a great gift for fans of the X-Men series and Wolverine.

Synopsis and Features

X-Men Origins Wolverine begins with a group of soldiers hunting Wolverine who is clad in a shredded uniform. He manages to escape and his thoughts drift to Africa, specifically Wakanda, where Col. William Stryker has been mining the meteorite deposits. The game follows the story of the X-Men Origins: Wolverine the movie starring Hugh Jackman with some additional material written exclusively for this game. Logan, Wolverines alter ego, manages to escape his dangerous life and settle in Canada with his girlfriend. His brother Victor Creed hunts him down and they have an intense fight, which ends with Wolverine’s bone claws being broken. Victor then escapes after killing Logan’s girlfriend, Kayla Silverfox.

Col. Stryker finds Logan and offers him the opportunity to take revenge on his brother, by fusing his bones with the indestructible Adamantium. Logan survives the procedure and upon completion he escapes the facility upon hearing Col. Stryker giving orders to have him executed. Hugh Jackman, the actor who plays Wolverine in the films, provides the voice for his character in this game. The gameplay style has been inspired by successful games like God of War and Devil May Cry. Wolverine’s clothes and flesh get damages when he gets hit, but as he regenerates you can see him becoming healed.

Combat in this game consists of three major types of attack which are the light attacks, heavy attacks and grabs. You can also lunge at an enemy to close the distance so you can take him by surprise. Use the environment to your advantage, by using impaling enemies on spikes to finish them. Wolverine also has devastating attack modes like Claw Spin and Berserker Mode which can be activated when his Rage Meter is full. Use his Feral Senses to detect hidden objects such as doors and enemies. Gain Experience Points as you kill opponents to progress further.
