Description
The story of Draupadi, one of the most fascinating characters in the Mahabharata.

Strange as it may appear, Draupadi, the most accomplished heroine of the Mahabharata, happens to be the most suffering, sacrificing, and yet the most misunderstood character from the epic. Though counted among the five supremely virtuous women, honoured as pancha sati in mythology, the name Draupadi still bears stigma and is often contemptuously uttered by people in society as the woman who brought about the greatest war of all times.

Pratibha Ray makes a determined effort for a balanced portrayal of the epic character and brings to the surface the broader and deeper aspects of Draupadis mind that lay submerged in the majestic sweep of the grand Mahabharata.

A different point of view

An interesting and engaging point of view. Never thought of thinking about the Great Epic from Draupadi's point of view. Thought provoking and fresh, it makes an interesting read for lovers of Indiam mythology. Extremely we'll researched.

:( :(

i wanted to read draupadi's perspective but was sadly disappointed.. ridiculous story lines , she shifts her love from krishna to arjun to karna , she drowns and is saved by karna , goes late in the night to take food to karna ... draupadi is shown as a weak and whiny woman which she def was not ! ..

Hard to digest some parts of the story

Heard a lot about this book. Some say one of the best writing piece on the character of Draupadi. Some parts are nice describing the motherly affection of Draupadi even being in the worst circumstances but some part are hard to digest. As I have read several books & articles on the epic the twists & some sub-plots felt a bit alien to me. Overall a good read
