You can set up a standard 7.2-channel surround sound system or a 5.1.2 dolby atmos system, and use the extra two speaker outputs to power a pair of speakers in a second room. That way, you can enjoy stereo music in zone 2 while others watch tv in the main room. When zone 2 is powered on, yamaha's intelligent amp assign feature automatically redirects the power for the two surround back channels — or the front height channels, depending on your configuration — to your stereo setup in zone 2, giving you five-channel surround sound in the living room. If you're happy with a simple 5.2-channel surround sound system, you can also use one of the extra sets of speaker outputs to bi-amp your front speakers for more powerful sound.
