Zombiestan is a novel written by the Indian author, Mainak Dhar.

    Summary of the Book

Five unlikely people come together in the distressed New Delhi, the city that is shrouded in darkness faster than anticipated. It had all begun with undead Taliban and gradually spread through the world. There is a seventeen-year-old boy enduring the loss of his family, a middle-aged professor, a US Navy SEAL trying to get back home, a young girl and her three-year-old brother. They all come to know that the child might hold the key to putting an end to all the trouble and grief that could ruin their worlds. So they embark upon a journey to a rumoured safe place high in the Himalayas. But the journey will become a tough fight against more adversaries, including humans and undead. Will the five of them survive the journey? Will they become undead citizens of Zombiestan as well?

Zombiestan- A Big Thumbs Up !!

Being a fan of everything zombie,i have seen a lot of Hollywood stuff and also read similar amount of books, all western though. It was with certain apprehension that i placed my order on flipkart, but now i am more than satisfied.I agree that that this book as its own set of let-downs but on the whole it makes for a good read.It stands out for certain reasons,
    1. The Indian setting which was first of its kind
    2. The ending which leaves scope for a sequel
    3. The language is simple enough with ...

    Truly an impressive novel!

I have watched the old Hollywood zombie movies and read World War Z, but to see it all play out in an Indian setting was a true thrill. The author, to his credit, does not just take Hollywood norms and copy-paste them into an Indian setting, but creates a very original take on it, with characters you come to enjoy and like and a lot of great action.

This novel is a real interesting read in terms of plotting, theme and the message sent across. The author has diversified the characters very well such that it can be enjoyed by people from across all ages. A foreign bravado who leads the gang, our own Indian teenager who turns into a Hero overnight because of the circumstances, his brave little lady love and her mischievous little brother who gives them a reason to see hope and also the old lady author who is a sucker for romance.

    Zombielanders

Zombiestan is a book about a viral plague that hits a terrorist group in Afghanistan which turns them all into Zombies. Moreover, there's the added agenda of these zombies to hunt all the remaining humans on earth and turn them into Jihadist zombies. The concept is pretty standard- something like cabin fever hitting everyone, people dying gruesome deaths only to be transformed into zombies the next second, the chase, the bleak hopes of the future- it all works very well together. The best par...
