the AMD 260X is a better deal, see the table below:

Nvidia 9800 GT ( came out in 2008) : Pixel Rate (GP/s): 9.6, Texture Rate (GT/s): 33.6, GFLOP: 336, DirectX: 10, Open GL: 3.3, It costed me around Rs. 6000 in 2009.

Nvidia 960 above: Pixel Rate (GP/s): 36.1, Texture Rate (GT/s): 72.1, GFLOP: 2308, DirectX: 12, Open GL: 4.5, Cost is stated above

Nvidia 750 Ti: Pixel Rate (GP/s): 16.3, Texture Rate (GT/s): 40.8, GFLOP: 1306, DirectX: 12, Open GL: 4.5, It is going around for 10-11k.
