Truly a very engaging book. Well segmented and narrated. A must read for all the readers interested in Indian mythology. The folklore s and the stories have been well analyzed in the light of practicality. Attempts to find out reason and rationale for many religious customs followed in the society .

This is my first experience of Devdutt Pattanaik's books and I must say that his love and intense research for all things associated with mythology is superb.

There are 7 chapters dedicated to the various goddesses of Hindu mythology from Gaia to Vitthai. Devdutt has talked about various aspects which have influenced the people's belief on the various goddesses including religion, myths and the likes. The illustrations on the left hand side pages are beautifully done.

The book is about mythology, highlighting various female gods worshiped by Hindu community with one from Greek mythology. The book looks like a history textbook and gives the same feeling of educational read than fictional. I liked books which has pictures in it which correlates or helps us to visualize the explanations given. Despite being 300 pages book, I liked the shape and size of it.

Medical doctor-turned-mythologist Dr Devdutt Patanaik comes with another gem, 7 secrets of goddess, his fouth in the 7 secrets series.
The book which has 7 chapters on 7 different goddesses beginning from Gaia to Kali to Durga to Saraswati and others is an educating read.
That is so because the author traces the origins of these goddesses in Hindu mythology, presents different versions of it, narrates stories associated with them, and then deals with narratives of contemporary viewing, influe...

My fourth Devdutt Pattanaik book. There is always a sense of fulfilment when you read a book by Devdutt. He delivers what is promised. Be it Jaya, The Pregnant king or Sita (for the most part), there is a lot of research that has gone into getting the material for the book and it is presented in a way that is easily consumed. Devdutt’s latest book ‘7 Secrets of the Goddess’ is no different either.

Such a scholarly account of major Indian goddesses. The book deals with the evolution and present day significance of the Devi. One must read it to feel proud of the vividness of our Indian culture. You may try this book to enhance your knowledge over the age old question 'why do we worship her'. The account on Devi Kali was one of my favorite. The most beautiful part of the book is that you can read it repeatedly.
